Hi guys..

Anyone know of a NZ chemical supplier you can supply commercial quantities of a powder brewery wash equivalent?

Buying the Large tubs is getting quite expensive from the home brew store...

Any suggestions welcomed.

Thanks Mark.

Here's a local supplier of Sodium PerCarbonate:

Marketing Chemicals in AK sell sodium metasilicate and sodium percarbonate in 25 kg lots. That gets you mist of the way.

If you where going to use a CIP  {spray ball inside a 50L keg to clean,   what concentrations and temps would you reckon?

I've been considering this myself - had to boil my kegs recently as I don't think the PBW soak and quick spray with a hose was doing it - was picking up a slight infection - not noticeable in kegs but over-carbed my bottled beers.

I think the standard suggestion is 30g per 5L.

I think I read somewhere that you shouldn't go much over 60C as it knocks the oxygen out of solution too fast for it to take effect & clean properly.

Are you going to invert it and hook it up to a chugger?

like a chugger its a 150L per min seawater pump,   but will throttle it back, you need serious pressure for a cip sprayball,  not as much as i am going to use but have the pump,  yes inverted 50L keg...

agree re infections had an urquell to die for in keg, the saaz was outstanding, all turned to crap in bottles...

I dont want to have to use that much gas to boil so will give the CIP spray ball a crack....

I use about 15gm per litre at 50c of 33% sodium metasilicate 33% sodium carbonate 33% sodium per carbonate. Less concentrated for soaking.
