Hey guys, just put my march pump together today and had a test run on my new sparge arm setup. After about 5mins of running the pump I smelt burning. I switched it off immediately and thought it had stopped priming even tho the sparge was still going. Anyway reprimed and set it off again a bit quicker this time, still got a little burn aroma. Is this normal or is something wrong with how I'm using it? Cheers

Last food processor we brought had a burning smell when running for the first week.  Lasted a few years now.

Yeah think you could be right. Ran it again today for sparge and similar smell but not as bad. Worked well so hopefully its just running in and will clear.

If in doubt just leave it running just water through it for an hour or two to test it.

Better it fail then than in the middle of a brew.

Cheers Dave, not a bad idea. I am only using it for moving water around the brewery at the moment so I don't have to lift pots everywhere. I ran it for the sparge today probably 30-40 minutes and it worked ok. Maybe a full speed test run through of 30-40L to see how it goes.

Oh I'd also recommend asking the agents if this is normal
