How to add permanent volume marking to a kettle

In case anyone was wondering how to get cheap stencils in Auck, I just bought a couple of these $2 sticker sets from Spotlight. I'll throw out the actual numbers, but use the "negatives" around the numbers. For numbers like 8, with 2 floating bits, I'll first peel off the 8, then stick light tape over the remaining bits, then peel them off and stick to pot, then carefully peel off the tape. Should just leave the negative outer and floating bits.
