Green Man Brewery
After reading many comments regarding trade marks and a certain style of Green Man Beer, which for legal reasons I will not mention. I would like to agree with everyone that styles of beers should not be able to be trade marked. Our problem is that we don't want to battle one of the big boys in court due to the crazy costs involved. I hope to be able to comment further on the subject next week after a board meeting of Green Man Brewery.

Can I be cheeky and ask why a beer mixed with lemonade costs the same as a beer not mixed with lemonade?

Thanks for your question.
The main reason is that most of our costs are fixed, ( rent, wages, bottles, cases, freight, power, etc, etc) and also being a seaonal release we only do a small amount of printing of labels so that cost allot more.

Here's the irony.
This new pub in Wellington (which is obviously tied to a multinational bloodsucking marketing company masquerading as a number of local breweries/brands) seems to have no regard for the existing relationship of the terms "Green Man" and "Beer".

Yes I talked with the owner there before they opened to see if they would be interested in having Green Man Beers on tap or at least bottles but like so many pubs/bars/restaurants the 2 big boys have them under contract. I wonder if that would be classed as anti-competetive?

The anti-competitive argument is a hard one to have (WARNING thread hijack) with owners of bars. They are being given incentives to stock a brewers beer either exclusively or a very high percentage.
Why would the owner say no to one of these deals which helps reduce the threat of being in business. It gives them a backstop.
Also consumers never ask for other beer. They only ask for beer they see in a bars fridge.;-)

oh dear more highjacking sorry....or the beer they're used to....sitting in the malthouse the other day drinking boysenbeery (see no fear of recession here) customer after customer asking for monteiths this and that, one group of guys discussed other options and complained that there was to much choice and decided to stick to "a golden, two originals and a pilsner" i had to laugh!

Great to see another brewery rep posting on here. It's also been great to watch your beers improve. Good luck versus the arseholes, and don't let it get you down.
Nice answer re: the price of "Cyclist" too.
By the way, had a Keller on the weekend. Reminded me a lot of St. Georgen Kellerbier which I had in Bamberg, so top marks for nailing the style.
