Hmmm. Anyone got one of these? Does the 48L one come to a boil reasonably quickly?

Yes I brought this brand a year ago.

Works great I got the 48L one.

45L from tap temp to strike temp in usually around 55min.

the plug is a larger one due to higher amps needed, looks just like a normal plug but is thicker/bigger and fits the oven type wall socket.

I've been happy with it, nothing flash but works well.

Do they have a sight glass included? On another forum someone else was talking about them and apparently the 48L ones have sold out now.

Nope no sight glass

pretty good deal if you wanted even a HLT     an element almost costs $109

It certainly looks like a good deal. The relevant questions have been asked on the discussion board so it will be interesting to see how they reply.

I'm always a bit wary of these things!

Pretty sure they're the same item as the trademe ones talked about elsewhere - the ones that have an actual volume 10 liters less than the advertised ones.

Mine just arrived, 48L one, had a slight dent in one side about 10cm pushed it out, going to cover in insulation add a PID and turn into a HLT.    Simple, but I am happy and at $109, I think these are reasonably priced.    Now add a 10g cooler and some cam locks.    Attach to my Iwakai pumps and I have 3V.   Who either sells cam locks or makes cam lock hoses in AKL.
