Has anyone tried one of these?

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Mini-Digital-Temperature-Controller-Thermosta...

Stumbled accross a link from a UK brew site.

Looks like it would cost about $45 NZ, delivered, about half the price of a tempmate from australia.

 are there an other options out there? No real rush, but will probably need something come summer

I've got one of those and it works well. Its great for the changing seasons where you either need to add heat or cool depending on the ambient temperature. Can't beat it for the price, only problem would be a lack of support if it packs up.
Good news that someone's got some success with it, did you need a sparky to help wire it up? or best not to ask !
Looks like it will also need putting in some kind of case as well?

yeah, won't be alot of support from HongKong, but how much is there from Australia for the alternative?
If it blows up then Craftbrewer or Mashmaster are more likely to offer a replacement than a HK seller. Mashmaster replaced a fridgemate of mine that died so I can vouch for their service.

I wired it up myself and put it in a case. I am confident in my ability with electrical wiring and safety. 240V can be deadly!! If you are not absolutely sure how to wire it, then be safe and get a sparky to wire it. It shouldn't cost too much, your life is worth it!!
Would it work out cheaper to get a couple? Or not really?
have asked them, might be, postage is 1/4 of the total price.
Sweet, could work out to be a half decent bulk buy, id be keen for one!!
Not sure if its really worth a bulk buy, the guy came back with the below:

1 unit - Unit cost: GBP14.9 + Shipping cost: GBP5.9
2 units - Unit cost: GBP14.9/ pc + Shipping cost: GBP5.31/ pc
5 units - Unit cost: GBP14/ pc + Shipping cost: GBP5.31/ pc
10 units - Unit cost: GBP13.5/ pc + Shipping cost: GBP4.72/ pc

guess they're not making alot on them in the 1st place !

Am probably going to buy one at some stage, probably before summer, but don't yet have a fridge to connect it to, so no great rush.
Ahh its in the UK thats the problem, hate how shipping from UK is so horrendously expensive :o(

All good, cheers for looking into it tho mate!
This guy is in Hong Kong and sells in US, AUD etc I got mine using US as exchange rate was best with NZ at time.
They offer it from UK, AU, US...

From the UK is the cheapest based on the exchange rate from XE.com, however if paying by paypal you get raped with their own exchange rate with commission.

$44.46 GBP -> NZ
$46.64 AU ->NZ
$48.13 US -> NZ
Farout. Could have done with one of these before I blew the thermostat on the spare fridge fiddling with it to stay between 12-15 for a larger. Its not stuck on 7.....awesome.
Ordered it on the 11th June, arrived today, 6 days, was NZD 45.75 in the end, from the uk ebay.
Have plugged it in and seems to do just what it should, over reading by 1.5C but it has a calibration function, relays clicking as they should.

A box and a double power socket cost another $40, waiting for sparky mate to cast his experienced eyes over my wiring before I plug it in with a heater etc.
