Hey everyone I'm going to make a champagne fruit beer for the girl friends birthday next year. does anyone know where I can empty (preferably new because ill make some labels) Champagne bottles? I have checked the home brew stores that I know, none of them seem to have any.

Not new but if you talk to the bars at viaduct you can get used Duetz bottles, soak them remove lables etc etc,  I have one of these  and you are free to borrow it... got it to make a few Belgium's and saisons.

I looked into this a while back for Christmas presents.- there are a couple of places that sell new bottles but I think they're more set up for large scale (not that I actually called them). I'm just collecting old ones here and there at the moment.

If you know anyone who works in hospo they might be able to hook you up with bulk old bottles - maybe hit up a wedding venue? If you soak them in water with some bleach for a week or so (and give them really good rinse after) they'll probably be as good as new.

You can get cages and plastic stoppers off trademe. Obviously plastic isn't as nice as cork but you don't need a cork press then...
