Buying a burner from AMAZON - group buy or opinions.

Hey guys,

After looking around for a decent burner, I came across (on the net and these forums) links to the following burners on amazon,

http://www.amazon.com/Bayou-Classic-SP10-High-Pressure-Outdoor/dp/B...

http://www.amazon.com/Bayou-Classic-SP1-Jet-Cooker/dp/B0002913MI/re...

They both look ok so I'm considering buying one for myself. To be eligible for global shipping free, I need to order $125+ of goods. SO I'm wondering if anyone wants in on this. Alternatively I'll order some (or other stuff) then put them on Trade Me to recoup costs...?

I'm in Wellington, if you are as well this may help keep costs even lower. Cheers.

Would also like to hear your input if you've got something like this (or know of a better option available in NZ)!

Well that pisses on my bonfire, I checked and it 'can't ship to this address' despite being eligible for global shipping.

Anyone got an opinion on this burner anyway? Cheers

Yeah forget that, I got well and truly pissed on by amazon. Had one of those burners on order, it stayed as waiting for shipping confirmation for over one month. No way to contact them, just cancelled it in the end. Only option is one of those campmaster ring burners by the looks of it. I'm in the market for a burner too for my 100L biab setup. Post back here if you find something good.

Karl at www.allgrain.co.nz has a range of burners some similar to what your looking at there and the Mogol burners aswell.

You could also try Combustion Control in Auckland.  I know they do burners like the Mongolian burners.  Not sure what they call them though, but drop them a line and have a chat.

Combustion Control

I just got one of these from amazon.. Took about 10 days

Not fired it up yet, need to get a 3/8 flare connector I think, and then mount it
Sweet, do you need to get the regulator as well or just any old regulator?

I didn't get the regulator, but I think i probably should have done.

I already have one of the adjustable regs from trade me, just need to get the adaptor to get to the 3/8 fitting. Need to get into Auckland Engineering Supplies I think

I was using one of these for a while, it did a good 46L+ boil,  was a bit sooty but thats probably my inability to correctly set it up rather then the burner itself.

Amazon is a funny beast. You have to make sure the seller is actually Amazon and not a third party.

See at the top of the list there is one listed as Amazon under the seller information. They are the only ones that typically allow international shipping. The link you provided is for a third party "Bargain Outfitters" or something.

I have a Bayou Classic SP10 under my kettle and a Bunnings style three ring under my HLT. The SP10 is a beast and really gets a good boil (have had 50l preboil on it). The three ring even on the adjustable reg just doesn't get out enough heat.

Oh yeah saw that 'ships from' thing shortly afterward. Heh, the SP1 didn't have any in stock on the amazon supply page so I checked ebay and there was one cheap enough with shipping.

I'll wait till that gets here, break it in a few boils then see if I should get another for my brother

I have the SP10, it sounds like a jet engine and heats up my 50L pot quickly. Would definately recommend it. I had no probs getting it shipped from amazon though, maybe I got mine from a 3rd party seller on there I can't remember.
