Hi good people of realbeer.co.nz

My Brewferm mini keg tap has broken. A replacement one is $75 which is pretty extortionate considering it's a flimsy piece of plastic. I have seen people talking about better quality metal ones on American forums but can't find them over here, does anyone know if they are available in NZ?

My tap broke while tapping a keg. Will I be fine to add more dextrose and stick a bung in it until I get another tap or will it be ruined now the pressure has gone?

Cheers

Ben

for $75 you can almost get a corny keg.  I would invest in a corny keg picnic tap and set of disconnects

I would love a corny keg, but I can't afford nor have the space for another fridge to put it in.

Cheers.

Keep it by the bed or side of the sofa mate :)

I have one of the 9L kegs the 6L are even smaller

a 6 would fit no problem in the food fridge as long as the missus doesn't object.

Thanks for the link, something for me to consider in the future.

As it stands I have 6 mini kegs full of beer that I want to drink (and 6 more waiting to be filled with beer), so I've ordered the metal taps direct from Germany. I got stung with International bank charges. Shipping is a bit pricey too but is the same cost for anything up to 5kg, so I ordered a couple extra to sell on trademe.

Cheers.

Hi Ben, How much are you looking to sell them for? I might be keen to get one or two off your hands.

Hi William, I'm looking to sell them for $100 a piece. They haven't arrived yet though. Cheers.

$100 a piece? Didn't you say that you could get the replacements for $75?

How much better are they?

The $75 tap is the plastic one you get in the brewferm starter kit, these ones I have ordered from Germany are metal and look like a much better tap from photos. I can't say how much better they are as I've not tried them myself yet. I'll report back in this thread when they've arrived and I've started using one.

I know $100 is pretty pricey, but the amount it cost me in international bank fees/shipping I'd be better off keeping them for myself than selling them any cheaper than that.
