Hi All,

I'm new here in RealBeer but not new when it comes to breeding plants. I have been looking for NZ sourced hops seeds for a while but no luck.

Also (please don't laugh), I have been looking for male hops plants.

I have read in previous postings that some have planted NZ hops seeds with success and please if the plant turns out to be male, please don't throw it away, I am willing to buy them off you.

I need the male plant to breed new hops varieties.

Cheers,

You can find seeds in whole ('leaf') hops, especially diploid varieties like Cascade, Fuggle, Golding, etc. They tend to have low viability, and need to be stratified before germination, but worth a try.
Cone, seeded bracteole, seed, unseeded bracteole.

I am also trying to find a male hop plant for the same reason i.e. have a dabble at breeding. I have tried to grow seeds collected from cascade cone hops but none have struck. Have you had any luck with this

Hi Jozsef

I found a seed from some Pacific Gem pellets if you are interested in it.  If you give me your address I'll put it in the mail if you want.
