It was with great regret that I couldn't make it to Beervana... or the Beer Awards for that matter. In my real life, I maintain a high responsibility position and had some very high priority (for my customers) meetings and duties. Bad timing really - I had a massive import, several customer meetings, now today - a massive export.

Such is life.

Anyhow... it seems from where I'm sitting that this year has been quite easily the best Beervana year to date. I have been following with great interest the twitter streams... and facebook updates too.

While I'm at it - congrats to Soren for taking out champion brewery of 2011 - what a dream right? So so so so much the best result anyone could ever ask for aye: a cutting adge craft brewery taking honours over all the big boys. Awesome stuff!

Anyhow... feel free to comment on what you liked best at beervana or whatever you like... Don;t rub it in too hard that I don't get to be there though.

Cheers!

Joe.

Hi Barbara

Sorry, our website www.parrotdog.co.nz should be functional within the next few weeks. It only has a 'Coming Soon' page at the moment. If you would like to get in touch with us, please flick me an email at mattwarner at parrotdog.co.nz.

Cheers!

Nice to finally get around to reading people's comments and experiences.

I thought that taking on a proper role at the festival would mean missing out on the joys of being a punter but it was a blast from the moment I recieved the 20 tonnes of beer at 9am on the thursday to finally getting a sit down as the beer beer and tiredness slapped me in the face just before midnight on Saturday.

Did the majority of my beer tastings between 830 and 10 in the morning on friday while tapping all the kegs so my memory of the beers is a little hazy.

Wished we could have had more than 30L of Feral's Funky Junky.  Tried to ration it out over the 4 sessions by putting it on for 20mins at a time or untill it felt like a quarter of the keg had gone, then by the time saturday night came around it lasted about 30 secs.  Those eco-kegs are a bitch to judge Volumes on the fly.  So apologies to anyone on that last session who missed out.  We were even going to cut into the keg to get the dregs out.

One of the absolute biggest sellers was Green Man's Tequilla Beer. People just gobbled that shit down. We had 3 cases of bottles for the whole fest and they were gone by the end of friday.  The Green Men guys were in town so I had 2 more cases picked up on saturday morning. After the first session on saturday there were 5 bottles left. So managed to get them to drop off another case for the saturday night.

Proof, if any is needed, that it wasn't just the beer geeks, nerds, snobs and tyrekickers populating the festival.

Awesome work from all the volunteers (well, 248 of the 250 ;) ) esp the two bros who worked for me, they volunteered for one session, firday morning, loved it so much they asked to stay on for the friday eve, still loved it and asked if we needed peeps for saturday arvo sess, so they came in again and were then going to go and watch the rugby elsewhere, therefore not getting to use any of the 3 free sessions they deserved, so promised to get a laptop and live freed of the rugby, just to get them to stay and do some drinking. hooked them up with lots of extra beer too.

Fuckin stars of the volunteer world. Chur boys. you'll be called upon first next year.

cheers also to the hashigo boys for being such kick arse duty managers. I knew that when I came around to any of their bars at the end of session they'd be tidy and spotless.  We were lucky to have yis.

shit, written a bit of a novel, and I haven't managed to offend anyone yet, so because im lazy i'll just quote someone else:

"fuck hashingo and fuck dominic and fuck you wellington idiots, I hate that fucking bar and it's idiot (self appointed elitist) fucking owner..."

hehehe

Priceless. Love your work.
