Beer measures - the real cost of a PINT
I would like to provoke the discussion on this topic, although it has been raised on here before, to try and find out the real costs around the country and see where the value for money drinks really are. And who is actually ripping the customer off. I will start with Speights Alehouse who charge $6.80 for a 400ml 'pint' which equates to $9.66 a true pint (568ml). So take your measuring jugs to the bars, then when your mates moan about the cost of real ales point this out to them!

Beernip ¼ pint 0.142 litres

large 1 pint 0.568 litres

Others may have noticed this, but when I was in Galbraith's last night they had written on the blackboard that they had withdrawn the imperial pint serve from July 1st. Now only serving in the 440ml 'Colonial'. They also said they were absorbing the 4% annual increase in excise tax.
Kind of sad to see the imperial pint serve (and those dimpled mugs) go, but I guess they didn't want the price point of their cask ales getting close, or even over $10.
