Hi fellow brewers,

I would love to do as most homebrewers dream to do and that would be to go pro. I am trying to work out if this is viable and worth while bringing up to my wife as a possible career move. I work as a tradie at the moment and have for years so as a ticketed tradie I make decent money, and I would like to find out what could be an expected range for wages making the jump from homebrewer to pro. I work as a tradie at the moment and have for years so as a ticketed tradie I make decent money, and I would like to find out what could be an expected range for wages making the jump from homebrewer to pro. Personally I would like to not get thrown in the deep end with a brewery, though I would do my best to learn fast and excel as soon as possible at a different system, different recipes as well as packaging. So in saying that there breweries locally are relatively small, never needing more than 1/2 brewers, so I would expect making the jump would lead towards a brewers assistant or just a brewers job rather than head brewer. Would anyone have any tips to making the jump to an already established brewery and how you could get them to look at you. As well what the pay rates would be expected to be?

Hey Folks

I am in the process of starting a part time brewing operation out of my garage down here in Hawkes Bay. A significant aspect of my plan is to run a stall at the incredibly awesome Hawkes Bay Farmers Market selling bottles and filling growlers on Sunday mornings. I have been fortunate enough to be accepted as a stallholder, however I have a small hurdle to cross regarding licensing. The market has a general liquor license, however I need to have a duty manager present, and unfortunately the council is unwilling to grant me one given that I have no previous experience selling alcohol.

Just thought I'd put my feelers out here first before I advertise elsewhere, and see if there happens to be any brewers or beer geeks out there in HB with a managers certificate who might be interested in helping me out for a few hours on Sunday mornings for 6 months until I'm able to apply for my own. The market runs weekly from 8.30am till 12.30pm, I'm looking at late Feb/early March all things going to plan.

Hit me up at matthewsmith567@gmail.com

Thanks!
Matt
Head Brewer Wantedtag:www.forum.realbeer.co.nz,2013-02-24:1500433:Topic:1713102013-02-24T23:47:24.943ZDarrylhttp://www.forum.realbeer.co.nz/profile/Darryl
